A CT Technologist is an imaging specialist who uses computed tomography equipment to create detailed internal
images that help clinicians diagnose and manage patient conditions.

Key responsibilities

  • Confirm imaging orders, review relevant patient information, and ensure the exam requested is appropriate for the clinical question.
  • Prepare patients for scanning by explaining the procedure, positioning them correctly on the table, and promoting comfort and cooperation.
  • Operate CT scanners and select appropriate scan settings to capture clear diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Start and manage IV access when needed, administer contrast agents in line with protocols, and observe patients for any adverse reactions.
  • Evaluate images for clarity and completeness, repeating or extending scans when necessary before sending studies for interpretation.
  • Accurately document procedures, contrast usage, and observations in the medical record and imaging systems.
  • Follow radiation safety, infection control, and departmental policies to protect patients, staff, and self.
  • Work closely with radiologists, nurses, and other care team members to support efficient workflow and timely patient care.
