A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse who provides comprehensive,patient-centered care,
often functioning as a primary or specialty care provider.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including health histories and physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and manage acute, chronic, and complex health conditions within their scope of practice.
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as labs and imaging.
  • Prescribe medications and non-pharmacologic treatments, and adjust therapies based on patient response.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team.
  • Provide patient and family education on disease management, medications, and preventive health.
  • Promote health and wellness through screenings, counseling, and risk-factor modification.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and community resources, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and adhere to regulatory and professional standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, practice management, and, when applicable, mentoring or precepting of other clinicians.
