A Physical Therapist is a licensed healthcare professional who helps individuals improve movement,
manage pain, and regain functional independence after injury, illness, or surgery.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients through interviews, physical examinations, and functional movement assessments to understand limitations and goals.
  • Identify movement impairments and functional problems that affect daily activities, work tasks, or recreational and sports participation.
  • Design individualized treatment plans with measurable goals tailored to each patient’s condition, abilities, and recovery timeline.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions such as strengthening and flexibility exercises, manual therapy techniques, balance and gait training, and appropriate use of equipment or modalities.
  • Instruct patients and families on home exercise programs, safe body mechanics, and strategies to prevent re-injury or physical decline.
  • Track and document patient progress, update plans of care, and determine readiness for discharge or transition to the next phase of rehab.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to coordinate comprehensive, patient-centered care across settings.
